No caminho de Emaús

Lc 24,13-35

Naquele mesmo dia, dois dos seguidores de Jesus estavam indo para um povoado chamado Emaús, que fica a mais ou menos dez quilômetros de Jerusalém. Eles estavam conversando a respeito de tudo o que havia acontecido. Enquanto conversavam e discutiam, o próprio Jesus chegou perto e começou a caminhar com eles, mas alguma coisa não deixou que eles o reconhecessem. Então Jesus perguntou: - O que é que vocês estão conversando pelo caminho? Eles pararam, com um jeito triste, e um deles, chamado Cleopas, disse: - Será que você é o único morador de Jerusalém que não sabe o que aconteceu lá, nestes últimos dias? - O que foi? - perguntou ele. Eles responderam: - O que aconteceu com Jesus de Nazaré. Esse homem era profeta e, para Deus e para todo o povo, ele era poderoso em atos e palavras. Os chefes dos sacerdotes e os nossos líderes o entregaram para ser condenado à morte e o crucificaram. E a nossa esperança era que fosse ele quem iria libertar o povo de Israel. Porém já faz três dias que tudo isso aconteceu. Algumas mulheres do nosso grupo nos deixaram espantados, pois foram de madrugada ao túmulo e não encontraram o corpo dele. Voltaram dizendo que viram anjos e que estes afirmaram que ele está vivo. Alguns do nosso grupo foram ao túmulo e viram que realmente aconteceu o que as mulheres disseram, mas não viram Jesus. Então Jesus lhes disse: - Como vocês demoram a entender e a crer em tudo o que os profetas disseram! Pois era preciso que o Messias sofresse e assim recebesse de Deus toda a glória. E começou a explicar todas as passagens das Escrituras Sagradas que falavam dele, iniciando com os livros de Moisés e os escritos de todos os Profetas. Quando chegaram perto do povoado para onde iam, Jesus fez como quem ia para mais longe.Mas eles insistiram com ele para que ficasse, dizendo: - Fique conosco porque já é tarde, e a noite vem chegando. Então Jesus entrou para ficar com os dois. Sentou-se à mesa com eles, pegou o pão e deu graças a Deus. Depois partiu o pão e deu a eles. Aí os olhos deles foram abertos, e eles reconheceram Jesus. Mas ele desapareceu. Então eles disseram um para o outro: - Não parecia que o nosso coração queimava dentro do peito quando ele nos falava na estrada e nos explicava as Escrituras Sagradas? Eles se levantaram logo e voltaram para Jerusalém, onde encontraram os onze apóstolos reunidos com outros seguidores de Jesus. E os apóstolos diziam: - De fato, o Senhor foi ressuscitado e foi visto por Simão! Então os dois contaram o que havia acontecido na estrada e como tinham reconhecido o Senhor quando ele havia partido o pão.

DIA TELAH BANGKIT

Percaya kepada kebangkitan merupakan suatu sistem iman kepercayaan yang tidak ada di dalam agama yang tidak diwahyukan. Sistem keagamaan dan iman tentang kebangkitan merupakan suatu pewahyuan yang khusus dari Tuhan Allah sendiri.
Di luar Kekristenan hanya ada konsep kebangkitan dari wahyu umum yang samar-samar, yang pernah terlintas dalam pikiran manusia.

Pada waktu Yesus Kristus bangkit terjadi gempa bumi yang hebat. Prajurit-prajurit Romawi yang begitu berani terpaksa menjadi takut. Batu penutup kubur yang paling sedikit membutuhkan lima sampai enam orang untuk menggulingkannya sekarang terguling sendiri. Pada waktu itu beberapa orang wanita datang ke kubur Yesus. Ada lukisan yang menggambarkan tiga perempuan yang datang ke kubur Yesus. Pelukisnya menggambarkan kubur itu dari dalam lubang yang melihat ke luar. Keadaannya gelap tetapi di pintu kubur ada cahaya yang masuk. Dan karena cahaya dari luar itu terlihat sayap dari malaikat yang sedang berkata-kata. Dua orang perempuan melihat malaikat itu, masuk ke kubur dan menjadi tercengang. Tetapi satu perempuan yang lambat baru tiba di depan kubur itu dalam raut wajah yang sedih sekali. Pelukis ini berusaha untuk melukiskan ekspresi manusia sebelum dan sesudah mengerti kebangkitan Yesus. Yang sudah mengerti mempunyai pengharapan besar.

Iman kita tidak boleh didasarkan pada suatu bekas peninggalan Yesus. Iman kita di dasarkan kepada kebangkitan Yesus Kristus. Kalau Yesus Kristus tidak bangkit, iman itu sia-sia. Pengabaran Injil sia-sia, kegiatan rasul Paulus sia-sia. Iman kepercayaan, pemberitaan dan kebangkitan tidak bisa dipisahkan. Kebangkitan Yesus Kristus menjadi fondasi iman, yang menentukan hasil kepercayaan kita dan fungsi pemberitaan kita. Jika Yesus tidak bangkit tidak perlu menjadi orang Kristen. Jika Yesus tidak bangkit, tidak perlu mengabarkan Injil. Sejarah akan terus menerus membuktikan satu hal bahwa gereja yang tidak percaya akan kebangkitan Yesus Kristus tidak akan mempunyai iman yang sejati dan tidak mempunyai iman yang dapat diberitakan.

Kebangkitan Yesus Kristus adalah jaminan yang paling besar bagi mereka yang berjuang dalam sejarah. Oleh karena itu berjuanglah untuk hidup walau harus mengalami kesulitan dan perlakuan tidak adil.

Semoga kita semua tetap setia untuk menjadi saksi dari kebangkitan-Nya.

On the third day He rose again

Easter Sunday

On Easter Sunday, the Church is recollected in contemplation of the risen Christ. Thus she relives the primordial experience that lies at the basis of her existence. She feels imbued with the same wonder as Mary Magdalen and the other women who went to Christ's tomb on Easter morning and found it empty. That tomb became the womb of life. Whoever had condemned Jesus, deceived himself that he had buried his cause under an ice-cold tombstone.

The disciples themselves gave into the feeling of irreparable failure. We understand their surprise, then, and even their distrust in the news of the empty tomb. But the Risen One did not delay in making himself seen and they yielded to reality.

They saw and believed! Two thousand years later, we still sense the unspeakable emotion that overcame them when they heard the Master's greeting: "Peace be with you.'".......Christ's Resurrection is the strength, the secret of Christianity.

It is not a question of mythology or of mere symbolism, but of a concrete event. It is confirmed by sure and convincing proofs. The acceptance of this truth, although the fruit of the Holy Spirit's grace, rests at the same time on a solid historical base. On the threshold of the third millennium, the new effort of evangelization can begin only from a renewed experience of this Mystery, accepted in faith and witnessed to in life....

Prayer

God our Father, creator of all, today is the day of Easter joy.

This is the morning on which the Lord appeared ot men who had begun to lose their hope and opened their eyes to what the scriptures foretold:

that first he must die, and then he would rise and ascend into his Father's glorious presence.

May the risen Lord breathe on our minds and open our eyes that we may know him in the breaking of bread, and follow him in his risen life.

Grant this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
